No Foolin, Tax Advantages Are Real
April 1 is known as April Fool’s Day, a day built around jokes and not taking everything too seriously. Taxes are the opposite. Taxes are one of the most serious financial topics most people deal with every year, and they are also one of the least understood. Many people go through life as employees, earning income and paying taxes without ever learning how the tax system actually works. Business owners often see taxes very differently because the tax code is designed to encourage business activity, investment, and economic growth.
When you operate a business, many of the expenses related to running that business may be deductible. This does not mean everything is deductible and it does not mean you should guess. It does mean that business owners are allowed to track and deduct legitimate expenses that help them operate and grow their business. For someone building a travel business, that can include things like travel to events and conferences, training and leadership events, marketing materials, software subscriptions, mileage, meals related to business meetings, and even a portion of a home office if you work from home.
The key is to start treating your business like a business from the beginning. Keep receipts. Track your mileage. Use a separate card or account for business expenses if possible. Keep simple notes about why a trip, dinner, or event was related to your business. Small habits throughout the year can make a very big difference when tax season comes around because you are organized and prepared instead of trying to remember everything at the last minute.
It is also very important to work with a qualified tax professional who understands small businesses and home-based businesses. A good professional can help you understand what qualifies as a business expense, how to track everything properly, and how to stay compliant while still taking advantage of the rules that exist for business owners.
Building a travel business is not only about earning income. It is also about learning how to operate like a business owner. Understanding taxes, tracking expenses, and working with the right professionals are all part of becoming more financially educated and more intentional with how you run your business.
The Josh Drop
Small Actions That Compound
It is easy to underestimate the impact of small actions because they rarely produce immediate results. A follow-up message does not feel like a breakthrough. Attending a weekly call does not feel like a major accomplishment. Posting a travel photo or answering a few questions from friends online does not feel like business growth. Over time, however, these small actions begin to connect and reinforce each other in ways that are not immediately obvious.
Small actions work because they are repeatable. When something is repeatable, it becomes consistent. When something is consistent, it begins to compound. Conversations lead to introductions. Introductions lead to presentations. Presentations lead to enrollments. Enrollments lead to new conversations. From the outside, it may look like momentum appeared suddenly, though it is usually the result of many small actions that were repeated long enough to create movement.
Compounding activity also builds personal confidence. Each conversation becomes easier than the last. Each follow-up feels more natural. Each presentation feels more familiar. Growth does not always come from doing something dramatically different. It often comes from doing simple things more often and more consistently.
Many people are waiting for a big moment to change their business. In reality, most businesses grow through small moments handled well and repeated often. Small actions reduce pressure, create rhythm, and build stability. Stability over time turns into momentum. When momentum builds, people often assume something changed recently, when in reality the change started weeks or months earlier through small consistent effort.
This business rewards consistency far more than intensity. Intensity comes and goes depending on motivation and circumstances. Small consistent actions can continue regardless of mood or schedule. That is why they compound. Over time, small actions done consistently create results that feel much larger than the actions themselves ever seemed.

SPECIAL EDITION JOSH DROP – Ep. 7: The Law of Sowing & Reaping
Episode 7 of Hart 2 Heart | The Josh Drop — Jim Rohn Series focuses on one of Jim Rohn’s most important principles, the law of sowing and reaping. The lesson is simple but powerful: not every seed you plant will grow, but the seeds that fall on good ground will produce a harvest if you keep planting. This episode is a strong reminder to stay consistent, keep sharing, and focus your time on people who are curious and engaged, because over time consistent seeds always lead to a harvest.
